Help understanding Framework Programme 7 from a financial perspective

In FP6, organisations were disadvantaged by a combination of poor budgeting and lack of knowledge of the financial regulations as applied to themselves. This frequently resulted in missed opportunities as well as grossly under-budgeting their own involvement when successful.

1 Day SME Measures (CRAFT) Workshop in Brussels, Belgium.

In order to answer requests, the Finance Helpdesk will be holding an open 1 Day FP7 SME Measures (CRAFT) Workshop on 30 Jan 2008, in Brussels, Belgium. 

There have been some major rule changes between FP6 and FP7. In FP7, RTD Performers like Universities and Research organisations, can be the Coordinators of "Research for the benefit of SME" projects.

Pilot IP Forum, to end March 2008

DCKN is running a pilot IP forum on the SEMN website until the end of March 2008.  The forum activities will include Christine Reid, of the Oxford legal practice Northwood Reid, providing feedback on posted forum contributions, providing IP briefings and offering legal surgeries at an IP and New Media seminar.

IP Pitching Event - Tuesday 11th December 07 - 2.30 to 6.30pm

You are warmly invited to the SEMN Pitching Event on the afternoon of Tuesday 11th December.  This event is being run by SEMN in association with Wired Sussex.  This is open to existing SEMN Digital Content Knowledge Network (DCKN) members and, more widely, to any digital content company, individual or university in the South East of England. 

 

Report on a succesful network event 17th May 2007

Key note speaker David Evans, Director of Technology and Innovation - DTI - provided a  brief on the role of the Creative Industries KTN, being developed to provide a national focus on a sector which is growing at twice the average rate of the UK economy and contribution some 1.8 million jobs and a gross value added of 7 1/2%. David explained the role of the Technology Strategy Board, DTI and Department of Media, Culture and Sports, who are all commited to providing focussed support to the sector, to ensure it remains internationally competitive.

Research and Development Funding
To warm up your appetite for R&D -here's an introduction of funded projects from the UK and EU. These will be introduced at an afternoon workshop on 2nd May, in collaboration with the DTI and the UK National Contact Point for Society Programmes. For details refer to events above.

Community Event – new collaborations commence.
On the 6 February DCKN members: businesses, academics, national and regional support agencies: gathered to find out more about collaborations formed through the community’s special interest groups.  SIG Team leaders report good progress, with two groups advancing to form proposals for funding under FP7, refer below. Members reported significant numbers of new relationships and potential projects through the speed-dating activity.
